Yes, it's summer season and we got too many mangoes with us. Later I thought of making Aamras! Some of them might be wondering what I'm talking about? Here you go!

Aamras is a sweet dish featuring in the cuisine of the Indian subcontinent and most popular in north india.

It is made from the pulp of ripe mango fruit, sugar and Saffron (Zaffran) / Ginger powder (Sonth). The latter ingredient depends on the particular traditional cuisine of the state.

However, I love adding saffron to my Aamras recipe. And it's just yummilicious.

Ingredients

  • 3 pc Alphonso Mango

  • ½ tsp Cardamom powder

  • Sugar/Jaggery to taste

  • 8-12 Saffron Strands

Method:

  1. Soak the mangoes in water for at least 20 minutes.

  2. Now peel the skin and cut the pulp into cubes.

  3. Add the mango cubes, sugar and cardamom powder into the jar and blend into a fine smooth paste (with no chunks).

  4. Now pour it into a bowl and garnish it with saffron strands and serve with Poori or Chapati.

Make this Aamras recipe this season and spread the word of this tasty side dish/dessert among your family and friends.
