RECIPE

CLASSIC HUMMUS

Total: 50 mins

Serving: 4-6

Hummus is a popular middle eastern dish almost served with all main course dishes as an appetizer and dip. Literally the word Hummus means ‘ChickPeas’ in Arabic. It is customary when visiting any of the Arabic restaurants to relish this delicious dish.

Chickpeas are a good source of fiber and protein. Chickpeas contain moderate amounts of Calories and several Vitamins and Minerals.

Making hummus is very simple and doable in your kitchen. In preparing Hummus, Tahini paste/sauce is a star addition as it adds to the authentic taste.

Hummus is served along with pita bread. Although we mostly eat Wheat Roti/Paratha , I like to have just wheat roti and hummus. It's a perfect dish to have in your diet plan.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cup ChickPeas boiled

  • ½ cup Tahini Paste

  • 2 to 4 tbsp cold water

  • ¼ cup lemon juice

  • 1 Garlic clove medium sized

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • ½ tsp Cumin powder

  • ½ tsp Salt

Method

  1. Take a blender jar, add boiled chickpea, garlic cloves and blend it for 1-2 minute.

  2. Now add lemon juice and olive oil in batches and see to it they turn into fine paste.

  3. Then add tahini paste, salt and some cold water as it makes the hummus fluffy and give a final blend for 2-3 minutes.

  4. Once you see the mixture turns into a fine paste then remove it in a bowl.

  5. You can garnish it with cumin powder and some parsley. therefore it's ready to be served.
