Here is a basic recipe for a delicious homemade lasagna:

Ingredients:

For the Meat Sauce:

- 1 pound (450g) ground beef

- 1 onion, chopped

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes

- 1 can (14 oz) tomato sauce

- 2 tablespoons tomato paste

- 2 teaspoons sugar

- 1 teaspoon dried basil

- 1 teaspoon dried oregano

- Salt and pepper to taste

For the Cheese Filling:

- 15 oz (425g) ricotta cheese

- 1 egg

- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Other Ingredients:

- 12 lasagna noodles, cooked according to package instructions and drained

- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until it's no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.

3. Add chopped onions and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for a few minutes until the onions are softened.

4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, sugar, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer the sauce for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

5. In a separate bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, egg, and grated Parmesan cheese.

6. To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.

7. Place 4 lasagna noodles on top of the sauce.

8. Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles.

9. Sprinkle 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese over the ricotta layer.

10. Repeat the layers: meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella cheese.

11. Top the lasagna with the remaining 4 noodles and the remaining meat sauce.

12. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for about 25 minutes.

13. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the lasagna is bubbling and the cheese is melted and lightly browned.

14. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.

15. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.

Enjoy your homemade lasagna!
