Finger Millet Vermicelli Payasam/Kheer

Finger millet vermicelli is also known as Ragi Payasam/ Kheer and it is one of the healthier desserts. Finger millet is a rich source of fiber and helps lower cholesterol level. And cooking it in a form of dessert adds a healthier dish to your diet. Let's learn the way we cook!











Ingredients

  • Finger Millet Vermicelli 100gm

  • ½ liter Milk

  • ½ Cup Water

  • Sugar to taste

  • Pistachio sliced



Method:

  1. Take a pan, add milk and bring it to boil, add water to it. (optional)

  2. Stir the milk for a while 5-10 minutes. And check the consistency it should not be thick.

  3. Add finger millet vermicelli to it Once boiling, lower heat to a simmer and cover and stir well until it's tender.

  4. Add sugar and mix it well with a spatula. Simmer it for 2-3 minutes. There you find it ready to eat.

  5. To garnish add pistachio sliced or it can be fried in ghee as tadaka we do in most of the payasam.

Tip : Refrigerate if you like it cold. Add milk if you find it too thick.
