Homemade Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

Prep Time: 2 hours (including dough rising time)

Cook Time: 25 minutes

Yields: 12 rolls

Ingredients:

Dough:

  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting

Filling:

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed

  • 2 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened

Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1-2 tablespoons milk

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk. Add sugar, melted butter, salt, eggs, and flour to the yeast mixture and mix well. Once the dough starts to form, transfer it onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-8 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

  2. Filling: In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.

  3. Assemble the Rolls: After the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a 14x9 inch rectangle. Spread softened butter over the dough, then evenly sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar mixture on top. Roll the dough tightly lengthwise, and cut into 12 equal pieces. Place the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking pan, cover, and let them rise again for 30 minutes.

  4. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for about 25 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.

  5. Prepare the Glaze: While the rolls are baking, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more powdered sugar or milk, if needed.

  6. Finishing Touch: Once the rolls are done, drizzle them with the glaze while they're still warm.

There's nothing like the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls to start the year off right. As we roll into this New Year, let's cherish the simple moments, like enjoying a sweet treat with loved ones. Here's to a year filled with delicious adventures and joyful memories!
